An investigation at a homeless encampment has received a lot of attention from Barrie Police, with it now going into day three.
The encampment is located between Anne Street South, John Street, and Victoria Street in Barrie. Police remain mute about the investigation, despite estimates of a half-acre of land being taped off for it.
Tape was rolled out Wednesday when the investigation began, and a greater police presence entered the area Thursday. The blocked-off portion around the encampment grew overnight, and the police presence and barricade is now quite visible from Anne Street.

Barrie Police's tactical support unit is also visible, blocking access to Victoria Street at Anne Street South. Its mobile command post is also set up nearby.
At least six total police vehicles could still be seen surrounding the cordoned off area. Investigators in suits as well as those from the forensic identification unit are also present.
An estimated 40 community members live in the area, and representatives from the Busby Centre are on-site to provide aid.
The blockages haven't affected local business, which remain open and operational. A representative from the Barrie Food Bank has said the organization is concerned for those affected, noting many who have been displaced use its services.
Barrie Police has not provided any preliminary details throughout the process, saying they will speak to the investigation when appropriate and necessary.
More to come. A statement is expected from Barrie Police on the matter.
