Area Roofing Scam May Have More Victims
Innisfil Man Accused of Absconding With Deposit Before Roof Was Fixed
An Innisfil man is facing a few charges over allegations he took a roofing repair job deposit then bolted without doing the work, and police think this tale may sound familiar.
Barrie Police are asking anyone with a similar story to contact officers, as it’s believed there are more victims out there. It’s alleged the 53-year-old man advertised services from “RJ” at “The Perfect Roof” online, and started accepting deposits for repair jobs. Police claim the work barely started by the time the suspect disappeared with the money. That’s about the time the victim learned the company didn’t actually exist.
