Arrest made in Barrie stabbing

A 36-year-old Barrie man suffered non-life-threatening injuries

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Barrie last week.

Police say that around 9 a.m. on Friday, April 21, officers responded to a report of a man being stabbed on Gunn Street between Oak and St. Vincent Streets.

A 36-year-old Barrie man was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Late on Friday afternoon, police arrested and charged a 28-year-old man with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of as Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with a Release Order
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)
  • Assault with a Weapon

He was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear again on Monday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
