Arson, theft, threatening charges laid following fire in room of Bradford home Monday

Victim and suspect knew each other

An arson charge has been laid after some damage was done to the room of a home in Bradford.

Emergency services were called to a home on 10 Sideroad around 1 p.m. Monday with reports of a small fire. It appears one room of the home was damaged by a deliberately-set fire. Nobody was hurt. During the investigation in the incident, South Simcoe Police learned a resident of the home had been threatened and some of their property had been stolen or damaged.

As part of the investigation, police executed a search warrant at the same home on Tuesday. A 36-year-old man now faces charges of arson, uttering threats, theft, mischief, and possession of stolen property. Police say the victim and suspect are known to each other.
