Assault, impaired driving, trespassing charges laid during eventful holiday for South Simcoe Police

Three separate incidences resulting in charges laid

An Innisfil man will answer to a charge of Assault with a Weapon in court following an incident early on Canada Day morning.

South Simcoe Police Officers were called to Innisfil Beach Road near St. Johns Road in Innisfil with reports a man was lying injured in the middle of the road. Police found a 63-year-old man with an injury to his arm. Police say it appears he was assaulted with a bottle during a dispute.

Investigators honed in on a suspect, and now another 63-year-old man faces charges.

Also on July 1, South Simcoe Police charged an 18-year-old with running from the law, after police say he was trespassing on private property. Police were called to a property on the 7th Line and Webster Boulevard in Innisfil at around 5:30 p.m. with reports of ongoing trespassing by youth and adults driving dirt bikes and ATVs. Investigators say one of the ATV drivers in question refused to stop for police, but was later tracked down and charged.

Meanwhile, South Simcoe Police say they charged a 49-year-old man from Bradford with impaired driving after a call from a concerned citizen at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The suspect was arrested and charged in the area of Holland Street and Langford Boulevard in Bradford.
