The Town of Innisfil is reminding drivers that automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras have rotated to new locations. These cameras help slow down drivers in designated community safety zones, which often include vulnerable road users near schools and community centres.

Active cameras are now located at:

  • Webster Boulevard, near Lake Simcoe Public School
  • Innisfil Beach Road, near Alcona Glen Elementary School
  • Yonge Street at Lynn Street, Stroud
  • 9th Line, near Goodfellow Public School

Drivers near Alcona Glen Elementary School will notice that the flashing lights have been covered. When speed cameras are active, Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act requires the use of static speed limit signs instead of flashing indicators. This ensures drivers always see a consistent, enforceable limit.

Since launching in 2024, the Town’s ASE program has proven to be effective in reducing speeds. Local results support recent findings from CAA South Central Ontario, showing that ASE is changing driver behaviour with initial data showing a 20 km drop in the 85 percentile during camera deployment.

Revenue from the program covers ASE implementation costs and supports the maintenance of other local traffic safety measures. Program revenue will also be reserved for new initiatives related to traffic safety education, enforcement, and engineering projects. This investment helps make roads all across Innisfil safer for residents.
