A new automated speed enforcement (ASE) camera is now active in the Town of Innisfil as part of the program’s expansion. In addition to the existing camera, this new camera will rotate through community safety zones every few months.

Active speed enforcement cameras are present on:

  • King Street, near Cookstown Central Public School
  • Innisfil Beach Road, near Town Square and the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library (Lakeshore Branch)

“Coming Soon” signs are in place for two more cameras that are expected to be activated just before the start of the new school year on:

  • 9th Line, near Goodfellow Public School
  • Yonge Street, through Stroud

The current active cameras will also move to new locations at that time, including Innisfil Beach Road (near Alcona Glen Elementary School) and Webster

Boulevard (near Lake Simcoe Public School).

The Highway Traffic Act requires “Coming Soon” signs to be placed at least three months before the cameras are in use to provide advance warning to motorists. Once activated, these signs are replaced with “Municipal Speed Camera In Use” signs.

The Town’s ASE program uses a rotation model to ensure placement across priority locations. These locations are all identified as high-risk areas near schools or community centres, which are most likely to benefit from this proven traffic calming solution.

In addition to covering program costs such as camera hardware and servicing, signage, and processing fees, program revenue supports the maintenance of other traffic safety measures around town and new traffic safety initiatives related to education, enforcement, and traffic safety engineering projects. This investment will help make roads all across Innisfil safer for residents.
