The City of Barrie, Canadian Forces Base Borden, County of Simcoe, Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, and the Downtown Barrie BIA officially announced the return of the Barrie Airshow, presented by Pratt Homes, at a media event on Tuesday.
With a retired Canadian Forces Snowbirds Tutor jet and a retired CF-18 Hornet serving as the backdrop, Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall officially announced that the free show will be returning to Barrie’s Kempenfelt Bay on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday June 8, with a free concert at Meridian Place followed by a Drone Show presented by Pratt Homes and Commissionaires kicking off the weekend on Friday, June 6.
“In 2024, the Barrie Airshow welcomed nearly 140,000 people to Barrie’s waterfront and downtown, contributing over $11.3 million to our local economy,” reflected Mayor Nuttall. “We are honoured to host the Barrie Airshow again alongside our partners, and bring incredible activations like the Downtown Barrie BIA’s first Open Air Dunlop of the season, CFB Borden’s ground displays, live music at Meridian Place, and a free movie screening at Meridian Place.”
Iconic Canadian aircraft and demonstration teams will be taking to the skies including the Canadian Forces Snowbirds (431 Air Demonstration Squadron) and the Northern Stars Aeroteam. Be sure to follow the City’s channels as more performers are announced.
“The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are excited to be returning to the Barrie Airshow on June 7th and 8th 2025. The Snowbirds connection to Barrie and Simcoe County are strong; from being the hometown of some team members to our technicians being trained at 16 Wing, CFB Borden. We look forward to demonstrating the skill, professionalism and teamwork of the Canadian Forces and hope to inspire future generations of aviators! See you around Kempenfelt Bay!” – Major Brent Handy, Snowbird 1, Team Lead.
