A 43-year-old Barrie man is facing child pornography charges after police arrested a suspect last Friday. The charges include luring a child, sending sexually explicit images to a child, making child pornography and possession of child pornography. The suspect was held for bail and later released on several conditions.
Police say the man was arrested in September 2020 for similar offences and his cell phone was seized at that time for a forensic examination. The results identified additional child victims in the U.S. that the police say the accused met online and exploited. During this part of the investigation, the Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit worked with Homeland Security who provided investigative expertise and victim-related support.
