Release from Barrie & District Christmas Cheer

Barrie & District Christmas Cheer has already begun distributing food and toy hampers to 1,700 local families, and board members are feeling the crunch to reach their fundraising goal. Christmas Cheer has currently raised $250,000 which is $30,000 shy of reaching its ultimate goal of raising $280,000.

“With only one day left, tensions are extremely high,” said Christmas Cheer President, Steph Quenneville.“but we have to have faith that the community is going to pull us through to the finish line.”

Christmas Cheer is asking for cash donations to purchase the last-minute items needed to pack the remainder of the toy bags to fulfill the need in the community. Monetary donations can be made directly through their website, www.ChristmasCheerBarrie.com, or by texting the word: CHEER to 30333 (donation amount will be added to your wireless phone bill).

Barrie & District Christmas Cheer is an organization that depends heavily on the generosity of the community, local business owners and corporate sponsors in order to ensure that families in Barrie, Innisfil, Angus, Oro-Medonte and surrounding area wake up on Christmas morning with food on the table, and gifts under the tree.
