Barrie cops credit public for helping them nab suspects in assaults

Two people were injured

Barrie Police credit help from the public in leading to the arrest of two suspects in connection with alleged assaults that took place in the area of Anne and Dunlop Streets last month.

Police said a woman was walking on Anne Street around 9 p.m. on July 17 when she was approached by two people and assaulted. Police said a Good Samaritan tried to intervene and was assaulted by the pair. A third person who left a nearby establishment to try and break up the fight was also assaulted. Police said the first two victims sustained minor injuries, while the third person was unhurt.

In a tweet on Sunday, police said two suspects have been charged with assault and the male has also been charged with breach of probation.
