Barrie cops seize drugs, cash, vehicle after check-in at hotel raises suspicion

Street value of drugs is about $50,000

Barrie police were called to a hotel on Monday about a suspicious person who attempted to rent a room using someone else’s credit card.

Officers investigated and found a woman in possession of more than 500 grams of crystal meth and a quantity of fentanyl and two prohibited weapons. Police also seized more than $20,000 in cash, and the vehicle driven by the accused.

The total street value of the drugs is about $50,000.

A 62-year-old from Walkerton is up on drug-related charges, a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
