News release – from City of Barrie
The City of Barrie’s Culture Days takes place from September 24 to October 24. This year’s theme is RE:IMAGINE.
Throughout the pandemic, arts and culture emerged as a lifeline of joy, providing gifts of colour, hope, and reprieve needed to make it through this past year. RE:IMAGINE focuses on imagining what a post-pandemic world could look like and how individuals can contribute to that picture being brighter.
The City of Barrie is looking for artists, organizations and businesses that are interested in participating in this year’s Culture Days by providing a participatory activity for residents and visitors. The activity may be virtual, self-guided or in-person (pending local health restrictions) and may take place any time from September 24 to October 24.
Honorariums of up to $1000 are available per activity, and proposals will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, provided the activity meets the Culture Days eligibility criteria and the theme of RE:IMAGINE, and is of a quality and appropriateness that meets the satisfaction of the City of Barrie. All those who submit will receive an email letting them know if they have been selected within seven days of their submission. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, September 30th.
Culture Days invites the public to get behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities. The Culture Days organization supports a Canada-wide network of arts, culture, and heritage organizers to facilitate free public events in their communities every year during the Culture Days weekend.
