Barrie Food Bank Has a Long Way To Go To Meet Its Target

About 52,000lbs of Food Donated, just under 100,000lbs away from the goal

Thanksgiving is only a few days away, and the Barrie Food Bank has some ground to make up if it wants to meet its goal.

This year’s Barrie Food Bank Thanksgiving Food Drive has a goal of 150,000 pounds of food. Thus far, about 52,000lbs has been donated. The Thanksgiving Food Drive continues all month, not just until Thanksgiving.

Most Needed Foods:  Peanut butter, canned fruit and vegetables, can tuna and luncheon meats,  pasta sauce, juice, juice boxes, baby food, diapers size 5 & 6, jam & honey, school snacks, rice, condiments, breakfast cereal, oatmeal, mayonnaise, flour and toiletries.

Drop Off Points: Any local grocery store including Zehrs, Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys, Food Basics, Freshco, Costco, the Wholesale Club, and No Frills or at the Barrie Food Bank, 42 Anne St south Unit 2,  behind Pioneer Family Pools, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm and Saturdays October 12th and 19th from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Financial Donations are most welcome, and can be made at the Food Bank’s Anne St. location.

About 2,000 people depend on the Food Bank each month, with about 80,000lbs of food being used.
