According to police, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the area at the time of the shooting. The vehicle was last seen leaving Carley Crescent eastbound on Esther Drive.

"Members of the Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene and recovered evidence," police said in a news release.

Residents can expect police to be in the area as the investigation continues, canvassing for further evidence.

It is believed this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.

Police are asking anyone who may have information, including video footage, or dash camera recordings from the area around the time of the incident to contact the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
