It's an exciting time at Barrie Hill Farms, as Strawberry season is in full swing.
The pick your own farm in Springwater is kicking the season off this weekend with their first Strawberry festival since 2019.
With pandemic restrictions loosening, owner and farmer Morris Gervais said it was time to bring back the popular event, including live music, a magician for the kids, and delicious food.
"During the pandemic, we were open for berry picking, but we encouraged people not to dwell on the farm because of restrictions. But now, we're excited to welcome people back!"
Farmer Morris says the return of the festival isn't the only exciting thing. They recently added the Silo Café, where people can relax and enjoy some local foods.
"We have our popular frozen yogurt and other really interesting foods made with stuff right from our farms, so it's super fresh to you."
During the height of restrictions, the farm added a drive-thru service. Farmer Morris says they've decided to keep that feature, making it simpler for people to pick up fresh fruits and veggies.
He concludes he's looking forward to welcoming people back.
"In Ontario and Canada, the start of strawberries is kind of a big deal because it means that summer is here, and it's a kickoff to the summer season."
The festival runs on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26.
