A Barrie driver has been charged following a weekend incident where officers say they collided with multiple vehicles.
On Saturday after 9 a.m., an officer was on general patrol when he spotted a vehicle driving "erratically."
"As the officer attempted to pull over what was believed to be an impaired driver, the driver sped off," Peter Leon, communications coordinator with the Barrie Police Service, wrote in a release this morning.
"Police followed the vehicle, and numerous attempts were made to safely stop it as it continued to be operated dangerously, failed to remain after colliding with a sport utility vehicle at Essa Road and Innisfil Street and struck a marked Barrie Police cruiser at Cityview Circle and Ferndale Drive South."

Leon says the vehicle was found in a nearby parking lot and later confirmed the driver was at a residence in the Essa and Loggers Run area.
A 27-year-old Barrie woman was taken into custody.
"The now accused was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued, and she was formally charged with several driving-related offences and a drug possession charge," Leon wrote. "Police also executed an outstanding arrest warrant, and she was held in custody for a bail hearing."
Leon told Barrie 360 that she was wanted by other police services for similar offences.
