City Council approves zero-based budget

News release from City of Barrie

The City of Barrie has a new mobile app for residents to conveniently access important City information and services. The new City of Barrie app is now available in the App Store and is expected to be available in Google Play in the coming week.

“We’re thrilled to launch the new City of Barrie App,” said Rebecca James-Reid, Executive Director of Access Barrie. “This new app is another example of the way we are modernizing services to make it easier for residents to connect with the City of Barrie. This much improved app gives users the information they need in the palm of their hand.”

Features of the new app include:

  • News and events
  • Road closures and roadwork
  • 2022 Municipal Election
  • Council and committees
  • Garbage and recycling
including a customized curbside collection calendar
  • Transit and parking
  • City job listings and other employment resources
  • Parks and recreation
  • Maps
  • and more!

In addition, residents can report a problem directly to the City and opt in to receive timely and personalized notifications.

Analytics from the City's previous app, Pingstreet, were considered in the development of the new app. A survey that gathered feedback from Pingstreet users and input from potential users of a new mobile app also informed the development. Going forward, users can submit feedback directly within the new app.
