Barrie Library to offer Express Service as of June 29 at both branches

Computers available on first come, first served basis

The Barrie Public Library (BPL) is primed to begin expanding the services being offered to its patrons.

The BPL has announced it will begin offering express service during select hours, seven days a week, at both the Downtown and Painswick branches, as of June 29. Library cardholders will be able to request materials online or by phone at (705)728-1010, and after receiving notification, can pick up those items during Express Service hours.

Barrie’s Painswick branch will be open as of June 29 for express service

“We are thrilled with the response to our Downtown Curbside Service,” said Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library.  “Our Painswick community has been eagerly waiting for service to resume in their neighbourhood, and our staff are equally as excited to see our members in person.”

The Library will also be offering four Express Computers at both locations, available on a first-come, first-served basis for 30-minute sessions. Computer stations will be sanitized between each session. Staff will be available to make recommendations or answer questions and could help fulfill some requests too.

Express hours will be the same for both the Downtown and Painswick branches:

  • Monday 10am-4pm
  • Tuesday to Thursday 1-7pm
  • Friday 10am-4pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 12-5pm

The entrance areas of both library branches will be open for pick up and computer access, while the rest of the facility will be closed to the public, including its washrooms.
