Barrie Library Painswick branch getting a facelift

Renovations expected to run until late June

Barrie’s south-end library branch is getting some freshening up.

The Barrie Public Library announced Friday renovations are being done to the interior of the Painswick branch. This includes opening up the space, installing new carpet and shelving, with new furniture being added. Work is expected to take until June 28, and during this time, some services will be limited. Members can still pick up holds at the staff entrance and return books through the book drop, while hours of operation will be set at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The branch will be closed on Sundays.

“We are so excited to unveil Painswick’s new look when we’re able to reopen to the public,” said Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library. “It’s really going to be a dramatic change to the space, and we know our members are going to love it.”

The downtown branch will continue to offer full express services from the front doors during the Painswick branch’s facelift.
