Barrie man charged in deadly King Township crash

Police said pedestrian was working in the area when he was hit by a pickup truck

A 53-year-old Barrie man is facing a charge of impaired driving causing death in connection with a collision on Friday in King Township.

York Regional Police said shortly after 10 p.m., officers responded to a report a vehicle had struck a pedestrian on Davis Drive north of the 2nd Concession.

The victim is a 19-year-old man from Trinidad who was working in the area when he was hit by a pickup truck. The victim was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The accused has a date in Newmarket court on June 10.
