A 34-year-old Barrie man is facing several charges following a two-month investigation by the Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE).

Police say the ICE Unit began its investigation after a report was received from uniform patrol involving a child under 14 who was allegedly being lured and exploited online through Snapchat.

On July 16, as officers attempted to execute a search warrant at a Barrie home, they say the accused left the residence and drove away.

Police conducted a vehicle stop and arrested the man.

An electronic device belonging to the suspect was seized and will undergo forensic analysis.

The accused is charged with luring a child under 14, making sexually explicit material available to a child, possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
