Nottawasaga OPP radared a vehicle at excessive speeds in Essa Township Thursday, leading to the arrest of and charges against the driver.
Just after 7 p.m., an officer was conducting speed enforcement on 6th Line, where they eventually initiated a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle.
During the stop, the officer formed grounds to suspect the driver was impaired by alcohol. As a result, the 40-year-old man from Barrie was arrested and charged.
Among the charges, two counts of impaired driving, one count of speeding up to 49 kilometres per hour over the posted limit, and one count of obstructing his licence plate.
His driver's licence was suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for seven.
The court date for the accused is in early October, taking place in Bradford.
