Barrie Man pushes through for Mental Health awareness

A Barrie man is flexing is muscles to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

Until October 18, from 8 a.m – 12 p.m, Randy Beal plans do sets of push-ups at CMHA locations in Barrie, then venture to random places across the city to do more sets.

The pandemic has had a significant effect on mental health issues, and everybody needs a little help, Beal says. “I chose push-ups because I love to keep in shape, and exercise helps with mental health. The older you get, the more important it is”.

He says he doesn’t have a specific target in mind, but he hopes to raise roughly, a penny a push-up. “I recognize that not everyone has a lot of money during this pandemic, but every little bit helps.”

Randy will be at the following CMHA locations between 8 a.m – 12 p.m

Oct 1-6 Mulcaster Street
Oct 7-12 Anne Street
Oct 13 -18 Bradford Street

Other locations between 12 p.m – 5 p.m

Oct 5- Pioneer Family Pools on Anne Street
Oct 7- David Busby Centre
Oct 8- Barrie Lockeroom Bar
Oct 17- Meridian Place with the Downtown Barrie Business Association during ‘Open Air Dunlop’ & at Malones Pinthouse.
