Barrie police investigating damage to vehicles in school parking lot

"We're talking pretty extensive damage," says police spokesperson Peter Leon

An evening out to watch their children play baseball was spoiled for some families after 10 to 12 vehicles in a school parking lot were "heavily scratched and damaged," according to Barrie Police spokesperson Peter Leon.

This happened on Tuesday at The Good Shepherd Catholic School on Cloughley Drive in the northwest part of the city between 6:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

Leon told Barrie 360 that most of the damage was to the passenger side and rear area of the vehicles.

"We're talking pretty extensive, deep scratches to the paint, which will obviously require these vehicles to be dealt with in a professional way to return them back to the way they were before this activity took place."

A number of reports have been received and Leon says it's being followed up by the Barrie Police Alternate Response Unit.

"We're asking people to keep an eye on their vehicle," said Leon. "If you're going to leave it for an extended period of time, it wouldn't hurt from time to time to go back or if with a group of parents, take turns to check the parking lot."

Leon says if the public saw anything suspicious contact police or Crime Stoppers.
