The driver was wanted on two outstanding warrants from police in Waterloo
Barrie Police

A 26-year-old driver was arrested after Barrie police say one of their cruisers was struck in the parking lot at 347 Bayfield Street.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 11:00 p.m. when a "car attempted to leave a parking space and reversed striking the front of the cruiser," police wrote in a release. "The driver did attempt to flee, but stopped after the officers ran after the car on foot."

According to police, the driver was not impaired but was wanted on two outstanding warrants from the Waterloo Regional Police Service for a number of criminal offences.

Police from Waterloo attended Barrie Police Headquarters and transported the wanted man back to their jurisdiction.

He will appear in court later today.
