Several "hot-spot intersections" will get extra attention from Barrie Police.
"Over the coming weeks, the public can expect to see a marked presence and increased traffic enforcement in these specific locations in an effort to reduce the number of collisions taking place, and the associated harm," police stated in a news release on Tuesday.

In 2022, more than 3,000 motor vehicle collisions occurred in the city. Almost 1,000 of these required police to attend and investigate as a result of injury or criminal charges.
"Traffic and road safety is a key priority for both the Barrie Police Service and the City of Barrie. The dedicated BPS Traffic Unit is focused on ensuring that our streets are safe for everyone that uses them," stated police.
