Barrie Police hastening criminal record check process as folks look for work or volunteer opportunities

Service will provide digital version instead of snail mailed hard copy

The Barrie Police Service has made a few tweaks to the process of applying for a criminal record check.

As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, and folks find themselves requiring criminal record checks for work or volunteering, Barrie Police have changed the age at which you could apply online from 21 to 18. Moving forward, the Service will also send documents electronically if no follow-up is required, instead of mailing a copy of the check. The online version will come with a digital seal and Barrie Police watermark to prove its authenticity.

“Our Records Unit has been working diligently to ensure a quick turnaround time on applications,” reads a statement from the Barrie Police Service. “As summer camps and employment gets underway, the Barrie Police Service encourages those who require a criminal record check to visit our website.”
