A nearly week-long investigation by Barrie police at a homeless encampment continues, and in an update on Monday afternoon, they said that their major crime unit and additional resources from investigative services are at a location in Huntsville.
Yellow police tape has roped off a wooded property on the west side of Anne Street South, in the area of John and Victoria Streets.
On the property, there are black police vans, white tents, and several people have been seen in what appears to be hazmat suits.

The suspect in the investigation, who was arrested at the weekend, made a brief court appearance on Tuesday. The 52-year-old man was taken into custody after police had earlier said he was considered "armed and dangerous" and that he was wanted for unauthorized possession of a firearm.
"To ensure that detectives can conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation, the Barrie Police Service (BPS) is not able to provide additional details," police stated in a social media post. "At this time, the investigation is isolated, and police will continue to be on scene until further notice."
