Barrie police report the urns found late last week have been reunited with their owner.

Officials posted about the news on X this morning.

This is not something ordinary for Barrie Police.

In their possession are two urns, which were found by a security guard at city hall on Collier Street Thursday afternoon.

"We are working diligently, hopeful that we can get those remains back to the family that they belong to." Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told Barrie 360. "We are very respectful of what we are dealing with."

The coroner's office has been contacted, according to Leon, because the urns contain human remains.

Leon was unsure where at city hall the urns were found but he believes they were left in a location so they would be seen by someone.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 705-725-7025.
