Just after 7:30 a.m. yesterday, Barrie Police located a female acting oddly and armed with what officers say appeared to be a screwdriver.

The woman was taken into custody without incident and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.

The 62-year-old of no fixed address was uncooperative at first but eventually provided her real name to police after she was released from custody, according to officers.

Police say the female was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and obstruct peace officer, for initially lying about who she was.

She is scheduled for a court date on April 3, 2024.
