Barrie Police host women in policing symposium

Recruitment Unit will also share information related to the application process, and what to expect

News release from Barrie Police

If you have considered a career in policing but wanted to learn more about what it entails and the supports that are in place for our members, this is an evening you won’t want to miss!

The Barrie Police Service Recruiting Unit is hosting a Women in Policing Symposium for those who want to learn more about what it means to be a woman in a job that was traditionally filled by mostly men. Policing has changed in the last few decades, and women are now some of the most valued members of police services across the world.

Barrie Police Chief Kimberley Greenwood, along with other guest speakers will share their journeys as women in policing. Our Recruitment Unit will also share information related to the application process, and what to expect.

This event will be a great opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day role of women in policing and the requirements needed and supports available to those who choose a career as a police officer or special constable.

This is taking place on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Services Campus, 110 Fairview Road.
