Barrie Public Library continues to offer some services despite stay-at-home order

Apply for or renew your library card online

Tuesday’s announcement of a province-wide stay-at-home order added even more uncertainty to a turbulent time, but at least we can count on one thing not changing: the Barrie Public Library.

The BPL continues to allow patrons to place holds on books and movies despite the recent order and will allow pickups on a drop-in or appointment basis. Browse the library’s online catalogue to reserve your material.

Folks can return borrowed materials through the outdoor return slots. Those picking up items must follow health guidelines, which include wearing a face covering, staying 2 metres away from others, and staying home altogether if you’re feeling unwell.

The library continues to allow patrons to renew library cards online or over the phone. Dial 705-728-1010 and select option #3 for over-the-phone assistance, or fire off an email to library staff.

Don’t have a library card? No problem. BPL allows online application for a library card. Barrie residents should receive their card via email, while eligible non-Barrie residents can expect to wait some three days before being able to browse.
