The Barrie Public Library is thrilled to announce its inaugural Fall Book Sale at the downtown library on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This event offers the perfect chance to stock up on new reads for the fall season, with all proceeds supporting advancing the library's services.
The library's previous multi-day Big Spring Book Sales have been a great success, raising over $4,000 in 2023 and $5,000 in 2024, respectively.
"Our past book sales have been incredibly well-received by the community, with enthusiastic support from local readers who love finding new books while contributing to the library's growth," says Katelyn Lees, Philanthropy and Resource Development Specialist at the library. "Thanks to the dedication of our incredible volunteers, we're thrilled to bring the Fall Book Sale to life, and we can't wait to welcome everyone for this seasonal event."
The sale will feature a blend of materials that have been removed from the library's collection, as well as community donations.
Library volunteers are collecting donations of gently used books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, and video games. Donations will be accepted at the Downtown Library Café on Thursday, October 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, October 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Items such as popular titles, cookbooks, biographies, crafting and gardening books, romance movies, and more are encouraged for donation. Please note that textbooks and encyclopedias will not be accepted.
Patrons are encouraged to bring their bags to the sale or purchase a reusable library bag for $2. Both cash and debit payment options will be available at the sale.
