Barrie woman facing 23 charges after two loaded handguns and drugs seized in Markham

Police say the drugs seized included crystal meth, fentanyl and cocaine

A 33-year-old Barrie woman is facing drug and weapons charges after York Regional Police discovered a person asleep behind the wheel of a pickup truck at the back of a business on Bodrington Court in Markham.

The woman was found in the vehicle last Friday evening.

During a search, police say they found two loaded handguns converted to fully automatic, two high-capacity magazines, a third auto switch that allows a semi-automatic firearm to be converted into a fully automatic, and a large quantity of cash. About 80 grams of crystal meth and 185 grams of fentanyl were also seized.

Members of the York Regional Police Guns, Gangs and Drug Enforcement Unit executed search warrants in relation to the incident and seized what they said was prescription medication for the purpose of trafficking along with cocaine.

The suspect has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm x2
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 2
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device x3
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (various controlled substances)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
