Barrie Woman Accused of Making it Rain Funny Money Around Wasaga Beach

Several Counterfeit $50 Bills Recovered

A Barrie woman is accused of trying to spend some funny money around Wasaga Beach.

Huronia West OPP were contacted by a local business on Monday, claiming a counterfeit U.S. $50 bill was used there. A description of the person accused of passing the bill was provided, and police got to task looking for her. Further investigation revealed several Wasaga Beach businesses had been visited, with the $50 bills passed all bearing the same serial number.

A suspect was located, while police say the 30-year-old woman from Barrie was found to have two more counterfeit bills on her at the time of her arrest. The suspect faces nine charges in total, including Obstructing Police, and Probation Violation.
