A woman is facing a public mischief charge after Barrie Police alleged she repeatedly called both 911 and the non-emergency line about the same incident.
Police say officers first responded to the 38-year-old's initial call around 3:40 Saturday afternoon and advised her the matter would be investigated.
"Over a roughly six-hour period starting around 9:30 p.m., the accused contacted Barrie Police via 911 seven times and the non-emergency number 24 times regarding the same matter. During the repeated calls, she became verbally abusive with Communications staff," police said in a news release.
Police remind the public to call 911 only for emergencies. For non-emergency police assistance, call 705-725-7025, and if you've already reported an incident, allow officers time to investigate.
