For the first time in IBL history, it awarded Gold Glove awards, and four Barrie Baycats are among the league's top defenders.
Frank Garcés, Nolan Machibroda, Tristan Clarke, and Noel McGarry Doyle were each named as Gold Glove winners by the IBL Wednesday, adding to their All-IBL selections for 2025.
Similar to MLB, the IBL partnered with Rawlings to present the awards. Many winners in the majors wear a gold patch on their glove, if they use Rawlings equipment. It is yet to be known if IBL players will do the same after these selections.
As a team, Barrie had the third-highest fielding percentage in the league during the regular season (.964), a five-point increase from 2024 and the team's best mark of the decade.
No players from Guelph or Welland were selected despite those two teams sporting the league's top two fielding percentages. Toronto was also among those teams without a Gold Glove selection, while Barrie's four winners are by far the most in the league.
Frank Garcés was fourth among pitchers with 12 assists and pitched the most innings among pitchers without an error.
Despite having six errors—the most in 2025 among first basemen—Nolan Machibroda was given the honour for the position. He had the most putouts at the position by far (210) and led in assists (17).
In the outfield, Tristan Clarke and Noel McGarry Doyle were recognized, both no stranger to highlight-reel worthy plays. The league's outfield selections did not specify positioning from left to right.
Clarke started the season in center field, but played the majority of his innings in left. He led all left fielders with 61 putouts while adding one assist and committing one error.
Meanwhile, McGarry Doyle didn't commit an error, had three assists, and ranked seventh among center fielders in putouts.
