Bicycle thefts an issue in Collingwood

Many had been left unlocked

Police in Collingwood are advising cyclists to lock up their ride when not in use.

Twenty-three bikes have been stolen this summer.

The majority of the thefts, 17, took place from June to July, stolen from garages, front porches, from the back of a pickup truck and from private property as well as businesses.

In many cases the bike was not locked.

Even if you are going inside a store for a few minutes or you have to put it in a location that is out of sight, it only takes a few seconds to steal an unlocked bike.

Police also advise you to take pictures of your bike and record the serial number. Both will be helpful if your bike is stolen.
