Body of woman who fell off water tube recovered from Lake Simcoe

Police were called about a possible drowning on Wednesday at a park in Georgina

York Regional Police have recovered the body of a 35-year-old woman from Markham after she fell off a water tube on Lake Simcoe.

Just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to Holmes Point Park in Georgina for a report of a possible drowning. When police arrived, they were told a female had fallen off a floating tube and had gone under the water. She was not wearing a life jacket.

About an hour later, the woman's body was recovered.
