Civilians were able to pull a man from the water

Bracebridge OPP is investigating the death of a man after first responders received a call shortly after six Monday evening about a swimmer in distress in Georgian Bay.

This was near the Moose Deer Point First Nation east of Mactier.

When police, fire and paramedics arrived on the scene, nearby civilians had pulled 31-year-old Lakshyavir Sanghera of Brampton from the water. He was transported to West Parry Sound Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.

Police would like to thank the efforts of the nearby individuals who rendered aid and to remind everyone that the waterways can present a serious risk. Know your limits and take precautions whenever you plan to be on the water.
