A 47-year-old man has been charged with the alleged assault of a bylaw officer on March 17 in Bradford.

South Simcoe Police say bylaw officers were conducting parking enforcement that afternoon and cautioned drivers parked in no-stopping areas near a crosswalk by a school entrance that they needed to move.

When the officers returned to the area and some vehicles remained, they began to issue tickets.

Police say one driver let out a string of profanities and allegedly struck a bylaw officer with his vehicle door, and then fled in his pickup truck.

The driver returned to the area soon after and parked in driveway.

Police were able to identify the suspect and the vehicle.

The accused, who is from Bradford, was arrested on Sunday and charged with assaulting the bylaw officer.

He has a court date later this month.
