A 17-year-old was charged after twice fleeing from South Simcoe Police (SSP) on an e-bike.
Around 1 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a youth on an e-bike causing a disturbance in the area of Holland Street West in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
"The youth was reported to have refused to leave the drive-thru area on an e-bike and subsequently took food from the business without paying," SSP said in a news release on Monday.
The teen was located on an e-bike a short distance away but fled from officers.
Around 6 p.m. the same day, police were called to the same area about a youth creating a disturbance at a business. Police received information that the same youth had been operating an e-bike and had driven through a crowded public area at a high rate of speed, posing potential safety risks.
Officers spotted the youth, and when they tried to speak with the person, they say the individual repeatedly ignored police instructions and fled on the e-bike.
The teen was eventually taken into custody.
Police say they also found four unopened alcoholic drinks in the youth's possession.
The Bradford resident was charged with theft under $5,000, obstructing peace officer, dangerous operation, person under 19 years having liquor, fail to identify self, driving a motor vehicle with no permit, driving a motor vehicle with no licence, operating a vehicle with no insurance, and two counts of flight from a peace officer.
The teen was released from custody and has a court date in October.
