South Simcoe Police arrived at a break-and-enter in progress in Bradford Friday morning, leading to the arrest of a man.
Around 1:10 a.m., police got a call regarding the incident, which was ongoing at a local Tim Horton's franchise. Officers arrived minutes later, and immediately found one involved individual trying to leave the scene with stolen goods.
Police eventually determined that suspects had broken into the exterior fridge and freezer in the business, and stole multiple items.
One suspect, a 47-year-old male of no fixed address, was arrested and given multiple charges, including these violations:
Criminal Code s.334(b)—Theft under $5,000
Except where otherwise provided by law, every one who commits theft if the value of what is stolen is not more than $5,000, is guilty
Criminal Code s.348(1)(a)—Breaking and entering with intent, committing offence or breaking out
Every one who breaks and enters a place with intent to commit an indictable offence therein is guilty
Criminal Code s.351(1)—Possession of break-in instrument
Every person who, without lawful excuse, has in their possession any instrument suitable for the purpose of breaking into any place, motor vehicle, vault or safe knowing that the instrument has been used or is intended to be used for that purpose
Criminal Code s.354(1)(a)—Possession of property obtained by crime
Every one commits an offence who has in his possession any property or thing or any proceeds of any property or thing knowing that all or part of the property or thing or of the proceeds was obtained by or derived directly or indirectly from the commission in Canada of an offence punishable by indictment
Criminal Code s.430(4)—Mischief under $5,000
Every one who commits mischief in relation to property, other than property described in subsection (3)
Police determined that a second male suspect wearing dark-coloured clothing was involved in the incident, but fled the scene on foot and remains outstanding despite efforts from officers and the K9 Unit.
South Simcoe Police are asking anyone who might have information about this incident to contact its Criminal Investigation Bureau or Crime Stoppers.
