Canada makes a splash in the pool on day two of the Tokyo Olympics

Canadian swimmers and divers win silver medals

The water is where Canada launched its medal count at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

On day two of the competition, Penny Oleksiak, Kayla Sanchez, Margaret MacNeil and Rebecca Smith won Canada’s first silver medal in the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay team swim.

Soon after, divers Jennifer Abel and Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu won Canada’s second medal of the Olympics, taking silver in the women’s synchronized springboard event.

China leads the Olympic medal count with nine including five gold.
