Canada’s De Grasse wins Gold in 200m event

Canada's first Gold medal in the 200m since 1928

Canada’s Andre De Grasse has won the Gold Medal in the Men’s 200m event at the Tokyo Games.

De Grasse ran a national record time of 19.62 seconds for the win. It’s his second medal of the Games and his second straight Olympic medal in the 200m, following a silver at Rio 2016. His career medal count is five.

It’s the first time since the 1928 Games in Amsterdam that Canada has won Gold in the 200m.
