Candlelight vigil planned Sunday after body found believed to be missing Bradford teen

A GoFundMe page has been created to support Siem Zerezghi's family

The healing process takes another step as a candlelight vigil for Siem Zerezghi will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. in Bradford. Members of the community are asked to gather outside the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library.

South Simcoe Police said a body recovered from a pond Friday evening is believed to be that of the missing 15-year-old boy.

The pond is in a field in the area of the Eighth Line and Professor Day Drive, where searchers earlier in the afternoon found items that belonged to the teen.

Ontario Provincial Police divers were called in to search the pond.

Investigators know Zerezghi left his home around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. Police said the last known sighting of Zerezghi came from two security cameras in his neighbourhood.

A GoFundMe page set up in support of Zerezghi’s family had raised nearly $23,000 as of Sunday morning. The initial goal was $5,000.

“Rest in Peace, Siem. May God be with the Zerezghi family during this extremely difficult time,” the GoFundMe page reads.

An autopsy on the body will be done.

Police said they will provide an update on Monday.
