The Town of Innisfil announces updates to Innisfil Transit, Innisfil’s public transit system. Offered through an innovative partnership with Uber, Innisfil Transit allows town residents, workers, and visitors to take discounted Uber trips. Starting August 6, this service will be offered through a voucher-based system.

Under the new system, vouchers will be applied to the Uber accounts of transit users and will continue to give them access to the same transit hubs and fare structure. The difference will be in the overall experience for the riders. By having access to the discount vouchers through their accounts, Innisfil Transit users will have more clarity around the cost of their trip, among other program details.

“We are excited about this update, and how it will modernize Innisfil Transit for our community,” says Brandon Correia, Manager of Planning. “While our previous system served us well, this transition to new technology brings improved reliability and a better rider experience. This change reinforces our commitment to providing a safe and dependable transit service that our residents can rely on.”

To ease the transition, anyone who has used Innisfil Transit in the last year will have the vouchers automatically loaded into their Uber Wallet on August 5. For everyone else, an in-app notification will pop up starting August 6 with instructions on how to claim the vouchers. Community members can go to the Town’s Innisfil Transit webpage to download the discount vouchers, as well.

To ensure full coverage across all of town and to all the transit hubs, the Town recommends riders download all four discount vouchers onto their Uber accounts. Three give access to the hubs at the $4.10, $5.20, and $6.20 fares, and a fourth provides a $4.00 subsidy for trips across the rest of town.

Community members who are eligible to receive an increase to their monthly trip limit or are part of the Fair Transit Program or the Families with Multiple Youths Program will receive additional vouchers as part of the transition. At this time, there are no changes to Uber Teen accounts.
