Charges add up as OPP keep an eye on unsanctioned car rally in Wasaga Beach

Numerous charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act

OPP closed a section of Main Street in Wasaga Beach on Saturday afternoon as hundreds of car enthusiasts jammed the street for an unsanctioned rally.

Police say they towed 25 vehicles from the roadway on including 18 for safety infractions and seven for stunt driving. As well, 101 tickets were issued throughout the day and one impaired driver was also nabbed.

This was a repeat of what happened on Friday when provincial police towed 14 vehicles off of area roadways for a variety of Highway Traffic Act offences and issued 87 tickets to motorists. Six drivers were charged with stunt driving and one motorist was nabbed for impaired.
