Multiple charges laid after traffic stop in Innisfil

Police say vehicle slid on the snow-covered road

A long list of charges for a 22-year-old Barrie man.

Just before 1 a.m. on Thursday, police were conducting traffic enforcement and spotted a vehicle travelling at 120 km/h in a posted 40-zone on Innisfil Beach Road.

As the South Simcoe police officer indicated for the driver to pull over, the vehicle began to slide on the snow-covered road, struck a curb and came to a stop. No one was injured, and the vehicle was not damaged.

The driver was charged with the following:

  • stunt driving
  • speeding
  • fail to stop when directed by police
  • driving a motor vehicle with no current validated permit

The man's licence was suspended for 30 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
